Another cold morning in the midwest and it all starts with a hearty breakfast. This is another favorite at home that everyone enjoys. Biscuits and gravy! A fairly simple and quick recipe that is sure to be enjoyed by all. Starting with some Neenee mix biscuits (always gluten-free) and a creamy sausage gravy to top it off.
Start with your biscuits:
Mix all the wet ingredients together first until well blended
2 eggs
1 cup of milk
4 tbls melted butter
Next, add the dry ingredients:
2 cups of Neenee mix
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp white pepper
1 tbls ground basil
1 tbls ground parsley
2 tsp xantham gum
1 tsp sage
mix it all together
add 1/2 cup of shredded cheese and blend in (gouda, cheddar, or whatever you like)
next, drop large spoonfuls on a cookie sheet. (makes 10-15), bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes.
Making the gravy:
brown 1 1/2 lbs of ground sausage
When getting brown add 1/3 cup sweet rice flour
stir this in with the meat until fully cooked
add 3-4 cups of milk and cook for about 4-5 minutes until thickens
add salt, pepper, cayenne pepper to your liking.
When the gravy looks thick and your biscuits are done, Enjoy!
